Daniela Cimo, a Staff Attorney in the Legal Services Community Economic Development Practice Group, successfully assisted the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade County (YWCA) in obtaining fee simple ownership of the land where its current building is located in Overtown. Daniela worked tirelessly over the course of a year to navigate through the appropriate channels at the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County in order to modify the YWCA's ownership of the parcels from a long-term lease with Miami-Dade County. This new ownership structure bolsters the YWCA's economic stability into the future, ensuring that the YWCA can continue providing services to the community's most vulnerable.
For the past two years, Daniela has assisted non-profit organizations and small business owners engaged in community development activities with their general corporate and legal needs. Daniela also leads the Transactional Equal Justice Project, which provides small business consultations and pro bono assistance to low income entrepreneurs in Miami-Dade County. The Project is a partnership with the law firm of McDermott, Will, & Emery.
