Legal Services of Greater Miami thanks McDermott Will & Emery Charitable Foundation and McDermott Will & Emery’s Miami Pro Bono & Community Service Community, for their dedication to our clients who turn to us when they need help accessing housing, education and healthcare - the essentials of personal safety and well-being.
“We value our pro bono partnership with Legal Services and are grateful for the opportunities to provide pro bono legal representation to those in need. Legal Services has been a wonderful resource for our pro bono program this year, both by providing pro bono referrals that match our attorneys’ interests and capabilities, and by providing our volunteer attorneys with the substantive training and tools that they need to most effectively represent individuals and small businesses in our community. We are happy to support this important work, and we hope that our contributions will help expand access to high-quality legal services in South Florida.”
A portion of their gift was made towards the Transactional Equal Justice Pro Bono Clinic, which has enabled Legal Services to help small business owners and nonprofits by providing them with legal assistance on various transactional matters during COVID. This clinic was launched by the Legal Services Transactional Equal Justice Program, whose Chair and Founder is Michael Bruno, law partner at McDermott Will & Emery. The donation will support our efforts to increase the delivery of pro bono legal services in transactional matters including estate planning, the Low-Income Tax Clinic, as well as to small nonprofits and minority-owned businesses, many of which have been financially impacted by COVID and who provide services and jobs in our community.
